What think you about the splitting of Iraq into three staates, where there are nearly daily attacks and over 2 million people have fled.
I think it is a fantastic idea, but should be done organically. My main issue with this whole conflict is that is it consists of foreign influences determining the fate of a nation. It seems to me that if Iraq would prefer to return to the pre-Iraq (yet non-Turkish) three state system, we should allow them to. Why is it really any of our business how people self-organise. If they're truly fighting for 'liberty', we should let that state determine if it wants to be united or a bunch of nation-states. It really isn't our place to tell them. But I know that reality is tougher than that because oil and resources come into play. It also seems to me, though, that practically, Kurdistan is already its own state. Give the Kurds a place to be, and it will be a magnet for peaceful immigration. If we would have found a similar, more suitable place for Jewish immigrants, it would have been a magnet for peace instead of the strife that Israel breeds now. Of course, Kurdistan is much more obvious than Israel.* *I'm no expert on Middle East politics. It is one of the quagmires I try to be as ignorant on as possible, but I'm obviously not succeeding in my ignorance.
