    Maintenance - 07/19
    Posted on Jul 19, 2008 - 10:46 pm

Never the most exciting thing to talk about, some major bug fixes and errors have been fixed. First up is the page loading time, which has been considered a major problem. According to a web tool the average homepage load time was about 14 seconds, which is ridiculous. With taking out the ads on the right and a few other minor things, the speed has increased by at least 2 times!

    Improvements upcoming
    Posted on Jul 04, 2008 - 7:43 pm

Now over 4 months after the launch of Political Yard v2.0, it has worked out well, especially on the side of stability and security. The error_log, which I check every few weeks, is at least 90% smaller compared to before. Aside from the very rare mysql downtime, the only errors are from the forums. (which will be upgraded in the coming few months) AdaptCMS has run very well on Political Yard.

    Political Yard v2.0
    Posted on Feb 29, 2008 - 6:11 pm
Ironically of all things, my thoughts for the new and improved Political Yard came from a CMS I've been working on. Almost all my sites except two run on it and it's a very flexible system. (check it out - http://www.adaptcms.com)

    Long time, no blogging
    Posted on Nov 05, 2007 - 9:18 pm
It's unfortunately been a little while since my last blog here. I've been quite busy with other sites, projects and mostly - life. Since my last posting a lot has happened, not as much here at Political Yard unfortunately. Traffic has done better recently (although it had a big pickup and then drop to current numbers) but is expected to do better with a newly submitted sitemap. Feature wise I am brainstorming once again, though I have some good news.

    New homepage and Features
    Posted on Jan 17, 2007 - 5:20 pm
Some more additions to the site are upcoming but first I want to tell you what is new and is up already. First is a new homepage which combines the "Top Stories", "Most Popular" Stories and "Latest News", all in one spot. This will make seeing the news even better and faster, as well voting for a story is now important and makes a difference!

    New Features; Articles upcoming
    Posted on Jan 12, 2007 - 3:20 am
There has been quite a bit going on at Political Yard. I have been trying to do a few of my other projects but want to do some things for the site before that. First I will be posting at the forums more often and I plan on writing some articles often as well as blogging at least once a week.

    Maintenance - 12/31
    Posted on Dec 31, 2006 - 9:43 pm

Yeah, I know going from adding an entirely new section on the website to maintenance is a let down but it's something that has to be done!

Good news with the site is that the alexa rank has gone up, to 196k which is great. Activity is still low however I am looking for staff and link exchanges, might be posting at craigslist and get out a few bulletins and ask for link exchanges with myspace groups, etc. Traffic this month was also up although the buying traffic experiment influenced that number, will have a better idea for January.
